4/2026: D.C. Nationals
After battling our way through Regionals and ORCS, Notre Dame headed to Nationals ready to make a statement. The National Championship Tournament brought us a new case - an armed robbery with two defendants - and to answer the challenge, three more students joined the A team to form a new Notre Dame team. With only four weeks to prepare, the Fighting Irish locked in and got to work.
And boy did the hard work show. Notre Dame ended up with a TOP FIVE finish (yes, FIFTH!!!) and an All-American Witness award for Ali McDonald (someone please check if she's secretly been doing witness magic).
To everyone in this program: thank you. Whether you competed, scrimmaged, judged, coached, or listened to someone explain hearsay for the hundredth time, this season was only possible because of every single one of you. We are endlessly grateful.
To our graduating seniors - Avery, James, Nolan, and Tiara—thank you for everything you've poured into this program. Your leadership, talent, and friendship have left NDMT better than you found it. You will be missed more than you know (expect alumni emails... attendance at tournaments would be well received!!).
And, as always, thank you to our coaches—Henry Leaman, Vivian Pham, Charlie Stock, and Theodora Ciobanu—for the countless hours, endless patience, and unwavering belief in this team. None of this happens without you.

3/2026: Geneva ORCS
To make it to the National Championship Tournament, midwestern mockers must endure the grueling competition that is known as: “The Geneva ORCS". Stacked to the brim with powerhouse schools, and having bested Notre Dame the last two years, both Notre Dame A and B were determined not to let Geneva get the last laugh in 2026.
Mission accomplished.
A Team earned the tournament’s second Nationals bid, finishing with a record of 6-1-1. A team rocked not one, but TWO All-National Attorney Awards, for Avery Gahler and John Vranas! And A team first year witness Ali McDonald took home an All National Witness award as well!
B Team proved, once again, that they are absolutely DANGEROUS. Finishing 4–4, splitting ballots with Kansas and taking a huge win over WashU, they fought for every point all weekend long.
It was a successful weekend in Geneva, Illinois. It wouldn’t have been possible without the long hours by our team, our coaches (Henry, Vivian, Charlie, Theo, Stephen, and Simeon), the schools who agreed to scrimmage us, and the support of countless first years who came out to support! Off to D.C.!!!
2/2026: south bend and dayton regionals
Our A Team travelled to Dayton for Regionals, while B Team and C Team defended the dome at the South Bend Regional.
Congratulations to our A team and B team for securing bids to Geneva ORCS! A Team took the Fourth Bid in Dayton with a record of 7-1, while B Team WOMPED the competition and secured an UNDEFEATED 8-0 record. As it turned out, B Team had the best regionals performance in the country! C Team also narrowly missed the window to advance, finishing out their final tournament of the year with a record of 4-4.

1/2026: Great Chicago Fire Invitational and Hoosier hoedown
Despite negative five degrees, Notre Dame A traveled to downtown Chicago to compete in the nation’s most prestigious tournament: the University of Chicago’s Great Chicago Fire Invitational. Despite hitting four powerhouse schools—Florida, Northwestern, Maryland, and Boston—they finished the weekend strong with an 8.5-win Honorable Mention.
Meanwhile, down south, Notre Dame B and C rumbled at Indiana University’s Hoosier Hoedown. Due to a sudden snowstorm, the tournament converted to an online-only competition. Notre Dame quickly pivoted, and competed against a host of midwestern schools. Freshman Ellie Heckman walked away with her second Outstanding Witness award of the season!
12/2025: ND takes on iowa and lewis
After a long trek to Iowa City, Notre Dame A capped off the fall semester at the 25th Cornshucker Invitational. Facing a talented field that included perennial contenders from Cornell College, Loyola Chicago, Wisconsin, and Eastern Kentucky, the team finished with an outstanding 7-win record, tying for FIRST PLACE. Avery Gahler also earned an Outstanding Attorney award, helping cap off an impressive weekend for the Irish.
Similarly, Notre Dame C wrapped up the fall semester at Lewis University's Fantastic Flyer Invitational. The team secured a third place finish, and topped the individual awards: freshman Ellie Heckman won the top Outstanding Witness award at 19 ranks; freshman Ava Vignola won the top Outstanding Attorney award; and freshman Grayson Beckham secured an Outstanding Attorney award just behind Ava with 18 ranks.
11/2025: nd continues its trophy hunt
Oh November, you went too fast!! This November, Notre Dame Mock Trial stacked its A, B, and C teams and kicked off the competitive season in style!
Two weeks after stacking, Notre Dame A and B competed at their home invitational, the Golden Dome Invitational (GDI). They each finished with a record of 6-2, and after a flurry of tiebreaking, A team secured FIRST PLACE, while B team earned FIFTH PLACE! Hats off as well to A team captains Nolan Reddy and James Loudenslager on their Outstanding Attorney Awards!
Two weeks after that, A, B, and C were on the road again! A and C traveled to the University of Wisconsin’s Badger the Witness Invitational and secured its second FIRST PLACE finish of the season! Captain James Loudenslager also earned another Outstanding Attorney award. C team, in its first tournament of the season, secured a 5-7 record despite the grueling competition.
B Team, for its part, traveled to the University of Pittsburgh’s Steel City Invitational. After four rounds of intense competition, they finished 7-1, securing SECOND PLACE at the tournament! Matthew Mrsola earned himself an Outstanding Witness award and Megan Touissant earned an Outstanding Attorney award! Congrats!!
10/2025: nd starts the season in style
WELCOME BACK MOCKERS! Notre Dame Mock Trial is back and ready for the 2025-2026 Season!
The Fighting Irish started the season by scrambling its rosters—building three teams with everyone from freshman to seniors. NDMT then sent two of those teams to the University of Illinois’s Illini Invitational, and one of those teams to Ohio State University’s Scarlet & Grey Invitational.
The results—stunning. One scrambled team finished 7-1 and took FIRST PLACE at Illini, while the other two teams finished with an even 4-4 record. Individual awards were aplenty: Congratulations to Tiara Takyi and John Vranas on earning Outstanding Attorney Awards, and James Loudenslager on his Outstanding Witness Award. Congrats especially to Nia Maria on earning a PERFECT RANK Outstanding Witness Award and earning the tournament’s top witness award. And lastly, a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the first year members who secured individual awards in their first ever competition: Outstanding Attorney Kenny Royer and Outstanding Witness Olena Kushyna.

4/16/23: Nationals
After an absolutely grueling ORCS, our A team traveled to Memphis, Tennessee (do we think AMTA’s a big fan of Cher?) and as always, performed phenomenally. With a top TEN finish (#9!!!) and YET ANOTHER All-American award (Nyla White please do not go abroad we need you), our program proves that we are not to be messed with.
Thank you to every member of the program for making an investment in us. We appreciate you, more than words can say.
To Brendan McFeely, Annika Marshall, Maxwell Thompson, and Eva Deegan, congratulations on finally being done. Your contributions to this program have been invaluable, and you will be sorely missed (please expect emails about GDI, attendance is required).
Once again, to the coaches, Henry Leaman, Ceara Mercilliott, Alex Murray, and Katie Lewis, thank you for the countless hours you invest in this program and every team. This program wouldn’t be what it is without you.

3/12/23: Geneva Orcs
On this fateful weekend A and B traveled to The Geneva ORCS for the battle of a LIFETIME. And we emerged… victorious.
A team ran it BACK with a Nationals bid and an all-around exceptional performance. We are so proud of all of you.
B team was, as always, DANGEROUS. With not one but two all-national witnesses (on the same bench!!) by the names of Emma King and MacKenzie Stewart, they closed out the season on a high note.
We’d like to thank our seniors for their dedication, energy, and the joy they bring to this program. Congratulations on completing your LAST ORC Brendan McFeely, Emma King, Maxwell Thompson, Eva Deegan, and Annika Marshall.
Finally, our gratitude to our coaches, Henry Leaman, Ceara Mercilliott, Alex Murray, and Katie Lewis for all their guidance and time on our journey. Dream? Chased.

2/25/23: Wheaton Regionals
Our A and B teams traveled to Wheaton for Regionals — A Team snagged a bid (!!!) which was super fun, funky, n fresh.
Congrats to NDMT President McFeely for winning an attorney award (and for not getting impeached just yet) and to Miss Tall-Glass-of-Sweet-Tea Haley for her witness award.

2/18/23: st. Louis Regionals
Our lovely C Team gals + living slay Eric competed at Regionals this month. Not only did they take a BID (!!!!) back home, but they also learned what dreams are made of (it’s the St. Louis arch btw).
